The Most Common Car Accident Injuries

Car accident injuries can be severe and devastating. Depending on the circumstances, you may suffer from soft tissue injury, trauma, burns, road rash, and head injuries. If you are injured in an accident, you need to get the legal advice you need to protect your rights.

    Whiplash

Whiplash is the most common type of injury that occurs after car accidents and is often handled by personal injury attorneys. The whiplash injury happens when the head and neck are violently thrown out of its normal range of motion. It is most commonly caused by rear-end collisions.

Although most people don’t experience any pain, it’s important to get medical treatment if you’re having any symptoms of whiplash. Symptoms include soreness and stiffness in the neck and back. They can last several weeks or months. Depending on the severity of the whiplash, you may need to undergo therapy or surgery.

    Trauma

Car accidents can be a frightening experience. Although many car crashes are minor, they can still cause serious injuries. In addition to physical injury, they can leave behind emotional scars. Some people even develop post-traumatic stress disorder. PTSD is a real condition and one that should be taken seriously.

Among the most common types of injuries caused by car crashes are broken bones, whiplash and burns. Broken bones can require significant medical attention and rehabilitation, which is why it makes sense to see a specialist.

However, it is the trauma of car accidents that can cause the most damage, causing victims to suffer long-term physical and mental health consequences. It can also interfere with a person’s ability to perform normal daily tasks. For example, a person who has been involved in an accident can lose his job, as he may not be able to work at his full potential.

    Damage to the head

Damage to the head from car accident injuries can be devastating. If it isn’t diagnosed or treated immediately, the damage can be fatal.

The force of the blow can cause damage to the skull and lobes of the brain. Impact forces from a motor vehicle collision can tear nerve tissues, blood vessels and brain cells. This can also damage the white matter of the brain, which consists of neuronal axons.

After a blow to the head, the brain can shift and slam against the bony underside of the skull. The resulting injury is called a concussion. It may result in a loss of consciousness and/or bleeding on the brain. A CT scan can be used to identify the extent of the injury.

    Road rash

Road rash is a type of skin injury caused by an impact to the road. The skin is usually exposed and will be red, inflamed, and possibly bleeding.

Road rash can be a painful and expensive medical issue. It is important to know how to treat it and seek medical attention as soon as possible.

A severe road rash can cause extensive scarring and may require additional treatment. This could include surgery to remove the damaged skin or a skin graft.

To prevent infection, wash your hands before treating the wound. In addition, use antibacterial ointment to help promote healing and kill bacteria.

    Severe brain injury

When someone is involved in an accident, the person’s brain can suffer a severe brain injury. The severity of the damage depends on the nature of the injury and the force of the impact. If it is not treated, the brain can develop severe complications. This can lead to permanent disability.

Some of the most common causes of traumatic brain injury are falls, violent assaults, vehicle accidents, and shaken baby syndrome. However, there are also injuries that occur without direct contact with the head.

In a car crash, a person’s head can be thrown backward and forward. It can hit the interior of the skull, which may fracture. Depending on the nature of the collision, it can also strike objects inside the vehicle, such as the dashboard.

    Soft tissue injuries

Soft tissue injuries from car accidents can be extremely painful. They can cause long-term pain, and can even lead to a loss of wages. Unfortunately, they can also be hard to diagnose.

If you’re a victim of soft tissue injury after an accident, you should seek medical treatment as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the worse the injury will become. Your doctor will be able to determine the extent of your injury and recommend a treatment plan.

If your injury is severe, you may need to undergo surgery. This is often the only way to get long-term pain relief.

    Burns

Burns after car accidents can be very painful. They can also be very expensive to treat. These injuries can involve a series of surgeries, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Depending on how severe your burns are, you may also require counseling and skin graft surgery.

Getting medical attention right after a crash is essential. If you do not receive the care you need, you risk infections and other complications. Your doctor can provide guidance.

There are three different types of burns. Second-degree burns are the most serious. They affect the outer layers of the skin, and can cause scarring. Some burn victims need to be hospitalized. Third-degree burns go deeper into the skin, causing damage to the outer and inner layers. This can leave the victim disfigured.
